Hi y'all! I'm Katie, and I'm the writer behind CraftyGirl Creates. I love embracing my creative side and coming up with new ideas, featuring new projects, and sharing my love of crafting with everyone!
After completing my Culinary Arts degree and my Business degree, the love of my life & I settled down, and I joined him in Southwestern Virginia. It's been a wild ride! Job changes, housing changes, and getting used to driving in the mountains - that sure was fun. :)
A few years ago, I created my Etsy shop, CraftyGirl Merchandise. I wanted a way to make a little extra income and sell all of the crochet goodies that were cluttering up our guest room! :) Along the way, I've added CraftyGirl Creates (for digital downloads), as well as starting this blog and doing freelance work on Fiverr. It's a little crazy, a little hectic...but I wouldn't change a thing. :)
One of the main posts you'll see me doing are features of various shops on Etsy. As an Etsy seller and admirer of handmade items, it's a wonderful fit! I'm just amazed by all of the talented artists on Etsy and all of the wonderful items you can find. If you can dream it, I'm sure someone on Etsy can make it!
I also love showing you recipes I've found, or discussing recipes that I've tested and tried. As you can imagine, given my schooling, I love to cook! A typical week in our household features comfort foods like Mama's Chicken and Dumplings, as well as healthier options like Ranch Veggie Pizza. And every once in a while, I crack out my Culinary Arts textbooks for special recipes and techniques that I just can't seem to find anywhere else!
So, if you're like me, and you love creativity (and food!), join me as we explore creativity from all aspects - from the point of the artist, the point of the consumer, and my favorite: the point of the eater. :)
